The Best Outdoor Area Rugs
By Michelle Sierra,
While indoor carpet is plush and comes with many the same features as outdoor carpet, indoor carpet cannot withstand the harsh conditions of the outdoors.
Outdoor carpet is weather-resistant, mildew and mold resistant and water-resistant. In addition, most carpets for outdoors will be low pile so they can handle wear and tear and dirt. You cannot use most indoor carpets outdoors. On the contrary, outdoor carpet and area rugs can, without doubt, hold up on the inside. Types of outdoor carpet are:
Broadloom - It is the traditional wall-to-wall carpet manufactured and sold in large carpet rolls that come in a standard size. Therefore, broadloom carpet is excellent for installation in sunrooms or cut to form an area rug.
Area Rugs - Most outdoor area rugs are made from synthetic materials like acrylic, nylon, polyester or man-made polypropylene. Also, there are others are made from plant fibers like hemp, jute, sisal, and seagrass. Indoor Outdoor rugs are resistant to stains and soiling. They are highly durable and resistant to mold and mildew, just like outdoor broadloom and carpet tiles. Therefore, if you are looking for an accent for your outdoor space, an area rug is a perfect choice.
Tiles - Carpet tiles are just that, carpet in tile form. Installation can be peel and stick, glue, tape or interlocking.
Outdoor carpet is one of the most rigid materials out there. It can withstand the elements, water-resistant, mold and mildew resistant and UV stable. Carpet is what makes your home comfortable. However, the outdoors can be just as comfortable for play and relaxation. It is a great way to make your outdoor space feel like home.
