Local Community Support and How You Can Help
By Dawn Giganti,
A community-minded business, Creative Carpet & Flooring cares about our community.
The importance of focusing on our community and giving back is essential to us. It is knowing that we're doing something to benefit others in our community and beyond that that adds an extra layer of purpose to our jobs. It also helps provide motivation when day-to-day tasks can sometimes feel mundane. What are some ways you can help a community-minded business like Creative Carpet & Flooring?
Watch for some of our community events.
Creative Carpet & Flooring has had a few pet adoption events benefiting local shelters. We donated a percentage of our pet-friendly flooring sales back to local animal shelters. There were even adoptable pets at the event. The exposure helps them get the human interaction they need. Most importantly, it helped in finding "furever" homes. Being surrounded by cuteness all day long is "ruff" stuff. As a result, our own Steve Williams, Cody Bouquet, and Dawn & Alexis Giganti also adopted! But we just couldn't say no to some of these cute fuzzy faces!
In November, we have our annual Thanksgiving food drive. This past year, our Mokena showroom supported the Frankfort Township Food Pantry, which assists families in need in Frankfort, Mokena, parts of Tinley Park, and Orland Park. In addition to Mokena, our Highland showroom donations allowed Grace Beyond Borders to serve the most vulnerable in the Northwest Indiana community.
In December, we help less fortunate and homeless families get through the winter by "giving the gift of warmth." To list, we collect winter coats, snow pants, hats, scarves, gloves, mittens, blankets, sleeping bags, and socks. This past year our Mokena showroom benefited Together We Cope. They are a homeless prevention agency in Tinley Park, IL serving 27 communities in 4 townships in Chicago's south suburbs. Our Highland showroom benefitted Grace Beyond Borders in East Chicago, IN. Marcus Martin founded Grace Beyond Borders in 2013 to rescue lives and end homelessness. Their goal is transformation and restoration by offering a hand-up, not a handout.
Contact us with volunteer needs.
Creative Carpet & Flooring offers its employees Volunteer Time Off. In short, VTO is a program that offers one paid eight-hour day per calendar year to dedicate to community service through volunteer work. The goal is to support activities to enhance, serve and support the community. Being a community-minded business, Creative Carpet & Flooring knows that participating in these kinds of activities enriches the lives of its employees. Watch for a post later on about how we have spent some of our past VTO time!
Spread the word on our Pay It Forward program.
Creative Carpet & Flooring helps community not-for-profit organizations raise money with our Pay It Forward program. How it Works –
- Most importantly, enroll your 501(c)(3) organization in our Pay It Forward program.
- Then the organization will receive 3-6% of the purchase price when members or supporters purchase from us.
- Also, we provide you with vouchers, flyers, and a personal letter to your organization explaining the program. We'll even help stuff, stamp, and label the envelopes!
Creative Carpet & Flooring strives to be engaged and supportive to stay a community-minded business. In particular, we enjoy working with the organizations we are supporting meeting a lot of new, exciting people, and developing relationships with them. Giving back doesn't just help those we're working to benefit. Specifically, it brings a renewed sense of drive and purpose. It also offers a new perspective on all the resources we have at our disposal. Not just us, but EVERYONE has different gifts and resources to offer. Above all, imagine what kind of world we would have if everyone shared their talents!
